Family Coaching – Addictions and Beyond

Like you, I have experienced a loved one with an addiction. My husband, Tim Estes overdosed twice and almost died. I got that dreaded call from the hospital that no one wants to answer. The first time was scary enough, but the second call they told me that he almost did not wake up after 3 shots of Narcan. Like your loved one, my husband had been to treatment, sober living and prison and it didn’t stop him.

As a therapist and an addiction clinician, I know how to help people like you and your loved one recover from their vices. As the wife of a recovering addict, I know how to help you recover from your loved ones’ tornado lifestyle.  When was the last time you took “me time’? How long has it been that you got sleep not worrying about your son or daughter or husband or wife getting into a car accident, getting arrested or worse yet overdosing and dying?

Having a loved one with an addiction can be painful and confusing. The Family is usually left in the dark while a family member goes into treatment and you, the family, feel lost, confused and unsupported. In addition, the expectation that your loved one will be ‘fixed’, or ‘cured’  and return home a different person is present. You want to know what to do with your loved one post-treatment and how to handle some of the Family Systems issues that are arising.   I can help. My team and I  are here for YOU. We offer Family Coaching for addictions, stress, anxiety and beyond.

At The Addictions Coach, we can assist you with Family Coaching and Family Addictions Coaching while your loved one attends drug and alcohol treatment, addiction therapy, or is placed in a sober living facility. Maybe your loved one is still home and actively using and you need guidance and advice. At The Addictions Coach, we are all  Nationally Certified Family Addictions Coaches with years of experience on both sides of addiction and we can assist you. We offer you, the family, guidance, and support during this stressful transition time.  We will Family Coach you on what is happening in the drug and alcohol treatment facility, what issues can arise when your loved one returns home, how to behave and speak with them,  and we will even explain the process of addiction and the steps to take to assist your loved one post-drug and alcohol treatment. We offer Aftercare for the clients and Family Coaching for you, the rest of the family.

You owe it yourself and your loved one to know what to say and what to do so that they get well and the entire family unit heals.

If your loved one leaves treatment and seems great, for a short period. Usually, the bad habits return and they go back to their old ways, it is time to call us. When the lying, stealing and manipulative behaviors start back up as a family unit, you don’t know what to do and you feel angry, resentful, and perplexed. You probably thought that they would be cured; maybe they are even worse off now and learned a new drug habit. You don’t know whom to turn to for help and answers. Call us, we are here to help. We offer Family Coaching that connects you with the behaviors and what to do when your loved one comes home. We offer support, encouragement and most importantly we can explain what is happening and how to handle it. Very few rehab and addiction treatment centers offer Family Coaching through the process and even after the drug and alcohol treatment facility stay to understand what happened and what will occur with your loved one post-treatment. Families are often either kept in the dark for 28 days or lead to believe that the addict will return to ‘normal’ when they leave the drug and alcohol treatment facility.

Not so. There is more work that needs to be done. We can walk you through the process.

Family Addictions CoachAs your Certified Family Coach, our trained staff will offer support services, encouragement, education, and we are your Family Coach throughout the entire process. We can be available 24/7, hourly or on-demand depending on the needs of the Family Unit and what other stressors are present in the family dynamic, including other members with addiction issues.  We can be here for you during this time period.  We offer services by the month, day or individual consult.  At The Addictions Coach, we can work directly with you, the family, to understand the cause and effect of addiction. As Your Certified Family Coach, we can hold your hand through the process and explain what is really happening with your loved one in rehab and what to expect from them after treatment.

My goal was to offer you a team. We can place your loved one with a Certified Recovery Coach and we can help you, help them.  Let The Addictions Coach become your resource team. We can work with you and also handle case management and assessment tools if your loved one relapses. We will be your Recovery Coach and Sober Coach as you go through this process with them. We understand what it is like to watch your loved one suffer from the addiction and you feel helpless over the situation. We can explain to you what enabling and codependency are and how those two processes can make the situation worse on yourself and your loved one.

I personally know this is heartbreaking and frustrating for you and you are getting a flood of information from various sources that tell you to do different things. You probably don’t know what the best course of action would be, you just know you want help to end the struggle and get your loved one back. You turn to us. We can help.
