Are There Really Cases of Fentanyl-Laced Cocaine?

Well, it was just a matter of time before the shifty black market practices that have now made the consumption of opioids even more dangerous than kissing venomous snakes would start to creep into the cocaine trade. There are now reports hitting the mainstream, suggesting that ruthless drug dealers are now using the dangerous synthetic opioid, Fentanyl to cut the cocaine before it hits the street.
This underhanded move is making the cocaine trade more deadly than before. According to a recent news segment, Ohio has become a breeding ground of death when it comes to drug overdoses. Last year alone 4,000 people in Ohio died from drug overdoses and most of them had one thing in common, they were cut with Fentanyl.
State officials have alerted the public to the fact that cocaine is now laced with the deadly drug. In fact, 1,000 of the 4,000 deaths were from Fentanyl-laced cocaine. That is a staggering number. Does this sound familiar? Like from the scene in Pulp Fiction when Uma Thurman snorted what she thought was cocaine?  This is what is happening in Ohio. When it comes to Fentanyl, this drug is 100 times more potent than morphine. Even touching this powerful opiate can cause death, as it did in Miami when a 10 year-old boy touched a towel that had a trace of Fentanyl on it at a YMCA pool.
And ruthless dealers are cutting cocaine with this drug now. Long gone are the days of dealers cutting coke with laxatives and detergent. Now it’s cut with deadly consequences. It was bad enough when Fentanyl was being used to only stretch heroin. But now its being used in many other drugs as well, including cocaine.
Any time you are using any street drug you are now playing with your life. And you can fully expect this trend to spread to other parts of the country. It is extremely scary to think about being eliminated of the planet from a line of cocaine but that is where we are today.
In nearly 8,000 Walgreens around the U.S. you can get Narcan without a prescription, so it isn’t such a bad idea to have some of the opiate reversal drug at your disposal.  We here at www.theaddictionscoach.com are available 24/7 for those struggling with cocaine, heroin or any drug for that matter.
